Report on Initiation Ceremony 2026
(Primary and Secondary Sections)
“Leadership is the capacity to translate vision into reality.”
The Initiation Ceremony 2026 of Sophia High School was conducted with great dignity, marking the formal installation of the newly elected student leaders of the Secondary and Primary Sections. The ceremonies were held back-to-back, with the Secondary Initiation Ceremony conducted first, followed by the Primary Initiation Ceremony.
The parade was led by the respective Sisters. The ceremony was graced by Sr. Prema, our Manager, and Sr. Abha, our Principal, for the Secondary Section, and by Sr. Prema, Sr. Abha, along with Sr. Mary, the Primary Incharge, for the Primary Section. The members of the Sophia Secondary Cabinet and Sophia Primary Cabinet—the Head Girl, Deputy Head Girl, House Captains, Vice-Captains, and Prefects—marched proudly to their places. The Secondary Cabinet also included additional responsibilities entrusted to the Discipline Squad, Cleanliness Squad, Music Incharge, and Art Incharge.
The ceremony commenced with the traditional Lamp Lighting, symbolizing the light of knowledge, wisdom, and hope. A soulful prayer service led by the office bearers was then conducted, seeking God’s blessings for the entire school community. The prayer service included scripture reading, petitions, the Lord’s Prayer, and a soulful hymn, creating an atmosphere of reverence and gratitude.
The major highlight of the ceremony was the Oath-Taking Ceremony, where the newly elected leaders were invested with their badges and sashes and solemnly pledged to uphold the school motto “Seek Ye Wisdom” with sincerity, discipline, and dedication.
A special segment of candle lighting, that is lighting the tapers, was conducted during the Secondary Initiation Ceremony, symbolizing the sharing of leadership responsibilities.
After the oath-taking ceremony, the Head Girl addressed the gathering, expressing her gratitude for the trust placed in her and promising to work in collaboration with all students for the betterment of the school.
In her inspiring address, Principal Sr. Abha encouraged the young leaders to lead with courage, integrity, and a spirit of service. She also urged the students to maintain discipline and work hard to achieve success.
The ceremony concluded with the Sophia Anthem. The parade then receded to the Sister Principal’s office, where the office bearers received sweets and the blessings of the Sisters and teachers, marking a joyful end to the ceremony.
